Some pictures of the initial fitment of an OM617A turbodiesel into a Volvo chassis. The most interesting thing about this swap is the adapter plate... If you sit down with all the mercedes and volvo bellhousings, flywheels clutches, etc and start measuring you realize that if you replace the mercedes intermediate plate with an 8mm steel adapter plate everything will "Just Work". The adapter plate is 7/16 steel (closest US equivilent to 8mm) and the motor is rotated to the right about 15 degreees (exact measurement TBD when we remove the motor and drill the rest of the holes in the plate, right now it is held in with c-clamps for fitment purposes) |
